I know...it's an eyesore. I know...it's on one of the two primary entrances to the city. But the fact remains that the business is in the county, and it is operating lawfully. Now, having said that....the owner is stretching his interpretation of the consent order issued by a jusge a number of years ago to continue to park his vehicles on the public right of way. My suggestion for a way to solve some of the issue is to get a different court to revisit the matter, and see if we can get a current ruling on private use of a public right of way for personal gain. Perhaps another angle would be to give some positive publicity to Graves Auto Salvage. When the matter of the unsightly junkyards was raised a number of years ago the owners erected fencing and planted trees and shrubs to screen the sights from the highway. Get the paper to run a couple of photo stoies showing then-and-now scenes for each one, emphasizing the positive effects at Graves'.
