I looked at this segment and was interested enough to go to the Haley website to see the segments there. I got 2 messages from Gresham Barrett bragging that he had won the debate, so I was interested. No way. I know he has voted conservative in Congress, but he is not a leader and his ideas are to have government fix problems, rather than letting the people and free market. He has been in Washington too long. I know you like Nikki Haley and now I see why. I am going to vote for her in your survey.

  2. American Patriot needs to get his facts straight. Yes, Gresham Barrett has voted conservative in Washington, but only when he has voted. He has NOT spent too much time there, because he has the worst record in Congress for votes missed, and has ducked about 35% of votes this session. He gets paid about $175,000 as a Congressman and seems to have no trouble taking the money while not doing the job. Deeds speak lounder than words.

I have been traveling around the country, mostly in the southeast and the northeast and found the dismay over the direction the POR (Pelosi/Obama/Reid)gang is taking our country approaching rage. I cannot remember emotions running this high and so widespread since 1968.

I have decided that talk is OK but action is what is needed. So here is my plan. It is called "TAKE TEN".

It is quite simple. You put Tuesday, November 2 on your calendar in red and promise me (really yourself) that you will vote. Secondly, you round up ten of your friends and make sure that they get to the polls and vote. Take them yourself if that is necessary. Thirdly, you ask your ten to "TAKE TEN". If you are successful, you will have taken 111 voters to the polls.

I have twenty people here in Aiken who have promised me that they will "TAKE TEN". I have gotten 80 of my high school classmates to "TAKE TEN". If I am successful, I will have gotten over 1,100 voters to the polls. Now, if the 1000 "TAKE TEN"......

The goal is to turn the Senate over to the Republicans. If that happens, then this president will be checkmated until 2012. In other words, "NO MORE HARM". Everywhere I have suggested "TAKE TEN" there has been great enthusiasm.

    That is step number one.

Step number two is term limits. This can be done at the state level through the state legislatures, 37 of them. The Congress cannot prevent that. This will completely change the character of the people who run for office as sitting in the House or the Senate will no longer be a lifetime career. Public service will replace self service. We will all have to agree on what the limit should be. I have in mind six or eight years max.

Step number three, which may come before step number two, will be to make it illegal to run for the Senate or the House if you have been a lobbyist. And it will be illegal to join an industry whose activities you have influenced as a Congressman after you leave either the Senate or the House. As with term limits, this amendment to the Constitution may be made without the participation of the Congress in its making. And, the Congress cannot prevent it.

There are other steps which may be taken to address our nation's future, but I believe in one thing at a time. Stay focused, stay organized, get it done.
